Gemeinsame Notiz | CONSTANCE ROEFFS MISS CONSTANCE ROEFFS, A FORMER TEACHER HERE DIES Messages received in the city today told of the death at St. Mary’s hospital at Milwaukee, of Miss Constance Roeffs, 64, formerly a teacher in the public schools of Manitowoc, but who has been a resident of Milwaukee for a number of years. She was taken ill two weeks ago from a complication of diseases and was removed to the hospital where she passed away yesterday. The body was removed to the O’Bole Funeral home on Wisconsin Avenue from where services will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 o’clock with services later from the Gesu Catholic church. The body will be brought to Manitowoc by motor and will arrive here at __:30 o’clock Saturday afternoon, and interment will be at Calvary cemetery here. The deceased, after teaching in the schools here for a number of years, left here fifteen years ago for Milwaukee, and after teaching there for some years, Miss Roeffs retired. She is survived by two brothers, Leo P. Roeffs of West Allis, Wis., and A. J. Roeff of Dousman, Wis. The deceased was born in the old Roeff’s residence on Roeff’s hill on the south side. She had her early education in the grade schools here and graduated from the north side high school. After she gave up teaching at Milwaukee she was very active in social work in the Catholic churches in Milwaukee. She was secretary and treasurer of the Catholic Old People’s Home up to the time of her death. The inmates loved her and she did much to make them happy and contented. She was also very active in the Marquette Educational league of the Catholic church. Her ever smiling face and sweet way with the underprivileged made her charity and missionary work very successful.
